Beacon Foundation’s 35th Anniversary Celebrations

Small Change Big Change was recently invited to attend the 35th Anniversary Celebrations of Beacon Foundation at Government House in Hobart, Tasmania. The event was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Beacon’s journey and to learn more about the ongoing achievements in creating brighter futures for young people in Australia.

The event kicked off with a welcome from the Governor of Tasmania, Her Excellency the Honourable Barbara Baker AC (pictured). The Governor spoke about the importance of investing in young people. She also highlighted some of the foundation’s recent successes, such as its work to increase the number of young people who complete Year 12 and its work to reduce youth unemployment.

Following the Governor’s welcome, there were a number of speeches from guests, including students from Kingston High School (pictured) who shared some of their insights on the challenges and opportunities facing young people today. They also shared firsthand experience on the successfully enriching Beacon Career programs delivered and co-created with students and Beacon Foundation.

Small Change Big Change was proud to be a part of the 35th Anniversary Celebrations of Beacon Foundation. What a fantastic evening to recognise all the great wins along the way. To see more on the great work Beacon are up to visit: https://beaconfoundation.org.au/about-beacon/
